Went back to the old Sunrise Galleria in Phoenix last week

Man, that hits close to home. The old Westgate Pavilion near me had the same slow death. You could watch the decline by what closed next, first the arcade, then the cookie place, then the big department store. Last time I walked through, the only sound was the echo of my own footsteps on the dirty tile. It's a weird feeling, like walking through a memory that's falling apart.

Why does nobody talk about the difference a proper QoS policy makes on a VoIP rollout?

Totally saw the same thing at my last place. Blairf48 might have a point about extra bandwidth, but QoS was the only thing that fixed our garbled calls. Night and day difference once we set it up right.

I was reading a library book about adoption history and found a wild detail from 1950

Yeah, that's a key difference. A placeholder like "Baby Girl Smith" just fills a blank until the real name is known. But "Helen Brown" as a deliberate alias is an active act of hiding. It creates a whole fake person, a ghost in the paperwork. That feels more intentional, like they were building a wall instead of just leaving a space empty. It turns a missing piece into a whole different puzzle.

Showerthought: I just found out how much weight a standard drywall anchor can really hold

Notice how a lot of stuff we buy is rated way under what it seems to handle in real life. Like those cheap extension cords that say not for major appliances, but everyone uses them for space heaters anyway. The numbers on the package are for perfect conditions and maybe to keep them from getting sued. Your shelf is probably fine because the wall itself helps, but it does make you second guess everything you've ever hung up, doesn't it?

Pro tip: tried a Milwaukee M18 blower versus the old shop vac for cleaning up after a sweep

Man, @rivera.keith, that's the worst feeling (sorry, neighbor).
