The Tokyo hotel that gave me a packing lesson
Stayed at a tiny capsule hotel in Shinjuku last fall. My carry-on is a 40L backpack, which I thought was pretty good. The check-in guy looked at it, then at the 2 foot by 4 foot locker, and just sighed. He had to help me Tetris my stuff in, and I realized I'd packed like three extra shirts for no reason. It was a solid reminder that even a 'small' bag can be too much for some places. Anyone else had a trip where the room itself forced you to re-evaluate your whole packing list?
