Man, the "caught the smell" part got me because I can picture that exact moment on a hot day when your brain just goes nope. Fresno heat makes everything worse, so grabbing the wrong jug there is almost a rite of passage. At least you only lost a corner and not the whole pour. Man, Rockbox on those old iPods is still the best upgrade you can do, way better than anything Apple ever put out for them. Just swap the drive for a compact flash card while you're in there, the stock hard drives die and the battery lasts way longer with solid state. Do that and it'll outlive half the stuff in your house.
