Unpopular opinion: I think our library should dump the Dewey Decimal system
Last month at the branch in Cedar Falls, I watched a mom wander four aisles looking for a simple book on backyard chickens because Dewey buries it under farming, then animal husbandry, then poultry. Half our staff wants to switch to bookstore-style browsing, but two of the older librarians say you can't beat the number lookup once you learn it. Which side are you on?
