The $400 editing course that made my videos worse, not better
Back in March I dropped $400 on a popular YouTube editing course because every big creator was pushing it. The guy promised his secrets would double my watch time, so I figured it was a no brainer. Instead of helping, it pushed me into copying his exact style, cuts, and pacing, and my regular viewers noticed within a week. My retention actually dropped 15% because I lost the natural rhythm that got me to 8k subs in the first place. I ended up scrapping half the lessons and going back to my plain setup, which hurt to admit after spending that cash. Anyone else thrown money at a guru's course and found it was just common sense wrapped in fancy graphics? What actually worked for you instead?
