I stopped chopping trees in Stardew after 40 hours and the game finally clicked
I put 40 hours into Stardew Valley before I figured out I was playing it wrong for my own brain. I was treating every day like a checklist, watering 60 crops, running to the mines, passing out at 2am, and I quit twice because it felt like a job. Then last month I started a new farm on the river map and gave myself one rule: no more than 15 crops and no mine runs unless I actually felt like it. The first in-game spring took me 9 real days instead of 3, but I talked to every villager twice and finally saw the cutscene with Linus at the tent. Turns out the game is not about getting ahead, it is about how you spend a rainy Tuesday afternoon, and I had been skipping all the rainy Tuesdays. Has anyone else restarted with a self imposed limit like this, and did it stick after the first season?
