My lead carpenter said something at the shop in Reno that I can't shake
He looked at my crown molding cuts and asked why I was still mitering outside corners instead of coping them. I told him that's how my dad showed me back in 2008 and I never questioned it. He just said, "Your dad ever frame a roof with a 2x4 and a handsaw?" I laughed, but then I sat there thinking about how many baseboards I've fought over the years because I trusted one guy's way of doing things. Now I'm second guessing every joint I cut. Anyone else have a technique they held onto way too long just because of who taught it to them?
