Wait, 40 minutes off four hogs? That seems like a lot for just changing up the order you do stuff in. I rough out and trim as I go and I've never timed a difference that big. Maybe your knives were just sharper that day and you didn't notice.

I finally got tomatoes on my 4th floor balcony after 3 years of nothing but leaves

Moving them to the railing corner probably did a lot of the heavy lifting, but 5 hours of sun is on the low side for a beefsteak like Better Boy. Those usually want 6 to 8 hours of full sun, so if the corner only gets 5, you got lucky with a good year. Cherry types are way more forgiving in part shade and still set fruit, so trying one cherry in that north spot would be a fair test. Keep the Better Boys where they are since they clearly work, and don't change up both plants at once.

Just spent 6 hours hunting an EVAP leak that was a 10 cent o-ring

Did the same thing last year on my wife's Tahoe, chased a P0442 for two weekends straight and it turned out to be the seal on the vent solenoid, hard as a rock and cracked all to hell? I had the whole rear end apart twice, dropped the tank once, and my smoke machine never showed a thing because the leak was so small it only opened up when things got warm and the plastic flexed. What got me was that the part was like 3 bucks at the dealer and I had already spent 20 hours of my life on it plus a tank of gas driving around trying to get the monitors to set. Now I keep a bag of assorted o-rings and seals in the toolbox and I check the cheap stuff first before I touch anything big. Lesson learned the hard way, that's for sure.
