inNostalgia for the old way of folding fruit into batter
Honestly used to think the berries just bled into the batter naturally and that was the whole point. Seeing this explanation clicked that the flour trick keeps things separated and the muffins actually look like muffins. Never bothered with it before but now I feel like I gotta try it.

inMy grandpa told me older books are better because they don't dumb things down. He was right.
I read something similar not long ago about how car manuals have gotten worse over time. @green.jessica, you hit on a real problem with those newer Haynes manuals. They cram in too many models and years so the diagrams get crowded and the instructions skip steps that used to be standard knowledge. The old Chiltons manuals were written when people still worked on their own cars and the authors assumed you knew the basics. They had room to put in real detail instead of covering twenty variations of the same engine.

inShowerthought: my buddy said the Teton Crest Trail is 'too crowded' now, but we saw maybe six people over three days.
Six people over three days? That's practically a VIP experience in the Tetons. @grayw32 nailed it, your buddy must hike in a literal ghost town to call that crowded. I did the TCT in August a couple years ago and saw more people at the Death Canyon shelf campsites alone, like eight tents in one spot. September is clearly the secret, the crisp air probably keeps the Instagram crowds away.
