I'm not buying that a $65 kit is the hero of this story, because you already said yourself it was the swollen caps on the power board that were the whole problem. That means you paid 65 bucks for maybe two dollars worth of parts plus a pile of caps you might never touch. Recapping a whole unit when only two are bad is how people end up with a worse sounding amp than they started with, because now you're yanking good parts and putting cheap no-name caps in their place. The iron did the work, not the kit, and half the guys who try this end up lifting pads or cooking traces on their first go. You got lucky that the fix was obvious and easy, and luck is not the same as a good bet.

Feel that scan cost pain so hard. Dropping almost thirty bucks on a lab to scan frames when half the roll is just me missing focus or catching someone mid blink is the worst. Your split of cheap proof sheet first then only paying for the keepers makes so much sense it hurts. I've been eating the full scan fee for years like a chump because I never thought to just ask for the contact sheet.
