After three seasons of fighting with the same clogged intake on the old Erie 150, I started running the cutter head in reverse for ten seconds before shutdown and it's cut my morning unclog time by half.

Honestly, it pushes the heavy silt and gravel back out of the suction line so it doesn't settle and harden overnight, so has anyone else found a simple pre-shutdown routine that saves a headache later?

That time a junction box was buried behind drywall on a kitchen reno

I was opening up a wall in a 1978 split-level to add a new outlet, and my sawzall hit metal about six inches in from where the old outlet was. Pulled back the drywall and found a completely covered junction box with three 12/2 cables spliced together, no cover, just taped up. Had to cut power, open the wall more, and install an accessible box with a blank plate. What's the weirdest hidden thing you've found inside a wall?

My boss insisted on using aluminum for a 200 amp service upgrade, but I pushed for copper.

Good call pushing for copper on that long of a run. I've seen those old aluminum connections fail way too many times, especially in damp places like a farmhouse basement. The new stuff is better, but copper's reliability and those solid terminations are worth the extra cost for a main feed. You fixed it for the life of the house.
