Shoutout to the mystery MAC flooding issue that ate my entire Tuesday

Spent a solid 8 hours last week chasing down intermittent network drops across our office floor. Turns out a rogue access point from a neighboring tenant was flooding our switch with random MAC addresses. The logs just showed 'port security violation' with zero details about the source. Swapped cables, rebooted gear, even replaced a patch panel before I thought to check the RF spectrum. Has anyone else dealt with a neighbor's gear causing this kind of silent chaos in a shared building?

Dropped $80 on a custom bookbinding press and it's already warped

I bought this wooden bookbinding press off Etsy from a seller in Ohio. Looked nice in the photos, decent reviews. Got it three weeks ago and set it up in my basement. Used it for maybe four projects and noticed the base started bowing in the middle. The wood just couldn't handle the pressure from the screws. Emailed the seller and they offered me a 20% discount on another one, which seems like a joke. I'm stuck with a press that leaves uneven pressure marks on my text blocks. Anyone know a press maker that actually uses kiln-dried hardwood and stands by their work?

Tried that $1 bean soup mix from the dollar store and it was actually AMAZING

I grabbed a bag of 15-bean soup mix for a buck at Dollar Tree last week. Figured it would be bland or take forever. Threw it in the slow cooker with some garlic, an onion, and a ham bone I had in the freezer. Cooked on low for 6 hours and it came out SO good. My kids ate two bowls each. I just assumed cheap beans would be a waste of time but now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Has anyone else had luck with those dollar store mixes?

Ran into an old lady at the dead mall near my place

There was this woman in her 70s sitting on a bench by the old food court fountain, staring at nothing. She told me she used to bring her kids there every Saturday in the 80s and now she just comes to sit because it feels like a cemetery. Made me realize how much those places held for people, you know? Anyone else run into someone like that?

Stop numbering your monthly logs in roman numerals. Here's why it's messing up your indexing.

I've been bullet journaling for about 4 years now and I kept seeing people do roman numerals for their month spreads. Looked cool so I tried it. January was I, February was II, etc. Then October hit and I wrote X without thinking. Problem is, when I went to flip back to find something from June (which is VI by the way), I spent 10 minutes hunting because my brain doesn't process roman numerals fast when I'm in a hurry. The index was a mess. I had to redo 3 months of entries because I couldn't find anything. Switched back to normal numbers last week and my setup time dropped from 5 minutes to maybe 30 seconds. Has anyone else run into this or am I the only one who got fancy and regretted it?

Got told my EVA foam edges were too ragged and it fixed my whole build

At a con last month, a random cosplayer pointed out my armor had these fuzzy seam lines I never noticed before, and she showed me how to sand at a 45 degree angle. I went home and tried it on my WIP Mandalorian helmet and the difference was night and day, like actual prop quality. Has anyone else had a stranger give them a tip that totally upgraded their budget build game?

My mentor told me to stop using alcohol-based toners on dehydrated skin - I fought her for 3 years

Jenna at the salon near my old apartment kept saying my 70% alcohol witch hazel was wrecking the moisture barrier on my clients with rosacea. After finally switching to a glycerin-based formula 6 months ago I've seen way less redness and way more repeat bookings for follow up treatments. Anyone else have a product they were stubborn about and later realized was causing more harm than good?

Swapped out my cold air intake for a short ram last weekend

I always thought cold air was the way to go, but after 3 years of hydro-lock paranoia in the PNW rain, I finally tried a short ram... The throttle response feels snappier around town and it's way simpler to clean the filter. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference in daily driving?

My coworker told me my monthly spreads were too cluttered and it totally changed my whole setup

I used to cram every single habit tracker, meal log, and expense column into one two-page spread. She said it looked like a wall of text and I'd never actually use half of it. So I split everything into weekly logs instead (way less pressure to fill it all in). Now I actually stick with it instead of abandoning the whole book after 3 months. Has anyone else had to simplify their layout after getting feedback?
