Oh man, that exact book did the same thing to me! I used to just hack branches wherever and now I'm out there with my pruners analyzing every single branch angle (my neighbors probably think I'm nuts).

My buddy Mark did this to a red oak at his parents' place back in 2017. He took out this one giant limb that was rubbing against the house and crossed right over the main trunk. The tree looked pretty lopsided for almost two years, like it was wearing a bad haircut. But this past summer I was over there and the crown had filled in perfectly, all the new growth pointing upward instead of sideways. He said the best part was that the acorn mess on the roof basically stopped.

Yeah man, those Ulka pumps are pretty standard but they do crap out eventually. 15 years is a solid run for one though, I'd say you got your money's worth. The thing with espresso machines is they're kind of like cars, once one part goes it can feel like a domino effect. But honestly, if the rest of the machine was taken care of, the other parts like the boiler and grouphead should have plenty of life left. I'd just keep using it and not worry too much, but maybe start saving a little cash for a new machine down the road if this one starts acting up again.

The feeder trains them better than we ever could.
