The $60 shed ramp tip I got from a guy named Walt at the Rockford ReStore
I was buying used hinges when Walt, a retired carpenter, told me to cut a ramp out of scrap plywood and coat it with a mix of deck stain and sand so my mower wouldn't tear up the grass going into my 10x12 shed. Did that two summers ago and the ramp is still solid, no rot at all. Anyone else have an old timer hand them a trick that just keeps working?

My grandpa did something like that with an old metal trash can lid he bent into a snow shovel. Used it for like 20 winters and it never cracked, even when we got that bad ice storm in '09. The sand in the stain trick is smart though, never heard that one. I've got a piece of plywood leaning against my shed right now that's been begging for a job. Walt sounds like he knew his stuff. Old guys who worked with their hands just see problems different than the rest of us.
