Cold brew in a jar on the counter beat my $40 drip tower, and I'm still annoyed about it
I bought a glass drip tower about a year ago because everyone in the forums swore the slow cold drip was the only way to get a clean cup. Last month I ran out of patience, threw 100 grams of coarse ground beans in a mason jar with cold water, left it on the counter for 16 hours, and strained it through a paper filter. The jar batch was smoother and had more of the fruity notes from the Ethiopian beans, while the tower cup tasted flat by comparison. Maybe I'm doing the tower wrong, but if a jar and a sieve get me there, what's the tower actually adding besides a nice photo?
