Power bank roulette ended when I started weighing them in Bangkok

I used to burn through random power banks every 3 or 4 months while hopping between hostels in Chiang Mai and Bali. The cheap ones with big mAh numbers died fast or charged slow. After a week where my phone hit 0% twice while mapping out scooters in Bangkok, I tried something dumb. I checked the weight. A 20,000 mAh bank should feel heavy, around 400 grams. The light ones were lying. So I bought a 450 gram Anker for $38 at a mall near Phrom Phong and it's still going after 8 months of daily use. Has anyone else used weight as a quick quality check or am I overthinking it?
