I finally got my cat to ride in the car without yowling the whole time

We had to drive to the vet in Portland, which is about 20 minutes away, and I tried putting her carrier on the floor in the back instead of the seat. She just sat there quietly and looked out the window the entire trip. Is the floor spot less scary because it doesn't move as much, or was I just lucky this time?

My cat tried to 'help' me wrap a gift and it went very wrong

I was on my living room floor last night trying to wrap a birthday present. My cat, Binx, decided the crinkly paper was his new enemy. He pounced on the roll, which unspooled across the whole room. Then he got his paw stuck in the tape dispenser and ran off with it still attached, trailing tape behind him. I had to chase him around the couch three times before I could free him. Has your cat ever 'helped' with a simple task in the worst way possible?

My cat started bringing me socks every morning at 6 AM sharp

For about two weeks, my orange tabby Gus would drop a single sock by my bed right when my alarm went off. I thought it was just a weird quirk until I read that cats bring 'gifts' to show they care. I used to see head butts as just random bumps for attention. Now I read it's how cats share scent and show trust. Is this rubbing mostly about marking or a real greeting?
