I called that "cats knock stuff off tables for attention" idea nonsense until I watched my own cat for 3 days
Last month I set my coffee mug on the counter and my cat Clyde shoved it off within 10 seconds, so I decided to test the whole "they do it for attention" thing because I figured it was made up. For three days I gave him zero reaction when he batted things off, and he stopped almost right away, but the second I looked over and said his name, he was back at it within an hour. Turns out he only does it when I am looking, which pretty much proves the attention idea right. So now I keep a few safe things on the edge for him to push and ignore the rest, and my good mug has survived two weeks. Has anyone else tried the no reaction test and seen the same thing, or did your cat just keep going anyway?
