My manager let me either comp the $40 meal or call the cops on the guy, and I picked the plate
Guy threw his burger at me at the Denver diner after I told him we were out of ranch, so I comped the $40 and he walked out happy while I scrubbed ketchup off my apron for 20 minutes. Anyone else pick the easy way out just to skip the paperwork?
Had a drunk guy huck a menu at my head one time over a wrong order and I just remade his food and ate the cost. Boss told me later I could have made him pay, but you know what? He was gone in 5 minutes and I got to finish my shift without dealing with cops or a report. The paperwork alone takes an hour and nobody pays you for that. My advice is just cover the food, keep your tips, and let it go. Some battles just aren't worth your time or your apron.
