inMy kid asked me why I keep a box of old broken radios in the garage
Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah fixing stuff is cool and all but a broken blender is just a broken blender. You can buy a new one for twenty bucks at the thrift store. I get the whole "knowing which screw goes where" thing but that's just basic adulting skills. My grandpa could fix anything too but he also had a stack of broken radios in his garage collecting dust for thirty years. Sometimes a thing is just junk. Not everything has to be some big lesson about confidence or character.

inWasted $800 on a career coach who just read me a script
@margarethill hit the nail on the head with that. I actually used to work for one of those coaching companies a few years back, and the "coaches" were just people who passed a 2 week training course. They handed us a binder full of scripts and told us to read them out loud. No real industry experience, no connections, nothing. Most of them had never even worked in the fields they were coaching people into. So when you say she was reading from a script, I believe you 100%. That $800 could have gotten you a LinkedIn premium subscription and a few informational interviews with actual hospital admins. Did you try reaching out to her for a refund yet?

inShoutout to the guy at the Portland cafe who called my pour-over 'dishwater'
Gotta question whether this is really that deep though. Dude made a dumb comment, you probably paid like six bucks for that pour-over, and you're still thinking about it months later? I get it can sting in the moment, but plenty of people at cafes say weird stuff about coffee that doesn't stick with you. Honestly if every snobby comment ruined my coffee experience I'd never finish a cup in a shop like that. Maybe just chalk it up to that guy having a bad day and move on.

inPro tip: I rewrote the end of 'The Martian' two ways and one just clicked
Man, are people really getting this invested in a volleyball's feelings? It's just a piece of sports equipment that floats, not a character with a whole emotional arc. Honestly, the real ending was already sad enough without turning Wilson into some kind of therapy patient.

inOverheard a homeowner in Boise say they'd never pay for a seam again
Gotta love homeowners who think they're starting a revolution...
