The $15 laser level I bought on a whim saved my wainscoting project
Honestly, I've always thought laser levels were overhyped gadgets for people with more money than sense. I've hung dozens of picture frames and shelves using a basic bubble level and a chalk line, so I figured I didn't need one. But last month I had to install wainscoting in my hallway, and the wall is so crooked it's not even funny. After three tries with my old level, the panels kept drifting a quarter inch by the end of the run. My buddy who does trim work finally handed me his cheap green laser unit and said 'just trust it for one board.' Tbh, it took me ten minutes to set up, but every single panel lined up perfectly after that. That $15 gadget saved me at least two hours of redoing work and a ton of frustration. Has anyone else had a cheap tool they were dead wrong about that ended up being a game changer?

Cheap digital calipers changed my whole framing game, no joke.
