Noticed cats at a shelter act totally different when you kneel down
I volunteer at the Austin Humane Society on Saturdays. Last month I started paying attention to how the cats react when people walk by their cages. Standing up, most hide or hiss. But when I kneel down to their level, a lot of them come right up to the glass and start purring. Took me about 3 visits to see the pattern clearly. Do any of you notice this with your own cats when you get low to the floor?
Honestly I think it's a predator thing, they feel safer when you're not towering over them like some giant hawk. I noticed my own cat only cuddles hard when I'm lying flat on the floor watching TV, it's like a switch flips in her brain.
