Finished the cedar siding on my garden shed after a year of weekend work

Wow, 342 feet is a ton of wood! I once tried to build a simple planter box and ended up with enough leftover cedar to accidentally side a small doghouse (which I did not plan on building). That final count always sneaks up on you. Congrats on sticking with it for a whole year of weekends, that's some serious dedication right there.

Remember when you had to wait for film to see if a cloud shot turned out?

Yeah it's funny how that was the standard first step for so many people. I've been seeing this pattern where we all start with the same simple tools, like those cheap cameras or basic sketch pads. It makes me wonder if having fewer choices back then actually helped us focus on just making stuff, instead of getting stuck picking the perfect gear. Now everything feels so polished from the get-go, it's harder to just mess around and learn.

A homeowner in Bakersfield said my fence posts looked 'too perfect'

Forget the fence, I've had people spot a wobbly doorknob I walked past for a week. Sometimes you just need that outside eye to see the obvious thing you missed.

TIL I've cleaned exactly 500 chimneys in my town

Honestly, I tried to track my numbers once. Made it to maybe seven before I forgot what I was counting. Was it oil changes, or the number of times I said "yep" to a customer? Lost the notebook in my own garage. So yeah, 500 is mind blowing. That's a real legacy right there, not just ego. I'd probably frame that log book page.

A regular at the coffee shop changed how I see 'difficult' customers

Right? @wendy_murphy16 that's a perfect example. I always try to remember that if a request seems weird, it's usually solving a problem I can't see. Saves everyone a headache.
