Just realized my birth mom story was wrong for years
My adoptive mom sat me down last month and told me my birth mom actually picked my name before she handed me over. I always thought she just walked away without a second thought, but knowing she picked "Richard" hit me different. Anyone else get blindsided by a detail like that later in life?

Find out if she left a letter or anything. My folks held onto a note from my birth mother for years before they felt I was ready to see it. Sometimes there's more to the story tucked away in a box somewhere.

Yeah, did your folks ever mention if she left anything like that? I had a buddy who found out his mom had written him a whole journal over the years, but his dad kept it in a safety deposit box until he turned 18. Shook him up pretty good, but he said it helped him understand things better.
