inTried watching anime at 1.5x speed for a week
I actually found long ring long land way better at normal speed because some of the jokes land better with the awkward pauses, even if it's technically filler. But I get what you're saying about background noise, @shah.evan, I do that with Bleach filler while I'm working. I just think 1.5x on One Piece might make you miss some of the little visual gags they add in.

inOverheard a client talking about LED masks and it changed my whole approach
What kind of mask was it, the one with red and blue lights or just red?

inTook a job on a river barge over a rig in the Gulf last spring
Fifty bucks a day? That's groceries for the week in some places, but people act like turning down cash is some kind of life lesson. The universe doesn't care about your commute or your paycheck, it's just random bad luck with a tire. I've seen guys take the higher paying job and end up with a blown motor on a rig that cost them three times what they made. It all evens out in the wash if you ask me.

inPicked a manual drafter over CAD for a quick side job last month
Read an article about how some architects still teach hand drafting because it makes you think differently about space and scale. You slow down with a pencil, catch mistakes before they happen, and theres something about erasing and redrawing that sticks in your head better than a ctrl+z. For quick jobs like that, hand drawing can actually save time if you're already comfortable with a scale ruler. Plus clients go nuts for anything that looks like an antique blueprint these days.

inSaw a guy swing his load too fast yesterday at a job near Austin
Wait, do coaches even have those fancy radar guns at practice games? Seems like they'd rather work on footwork stuff than actual swing data.
