inFound a 1975 cookbook called "Cooking with Odd Leftovers" at a thrift store in Boise last week
Freezer burnt meat actually breaks down nicely in a slow cooker. Just trim the real bad spots and add some extra broth, you'll be fine.

inSpent 3 hours looking for a leak under my sink that was just a loose fitting
Oh the humble compression nut, gets us EVERY time. I've gotta gently push back on calling it hand tight though. Hand tight on a compression fitting actually means snugged down with a wrench usually, not just finger tight. Gary probably meant it was barely catching. Those nuts need a quarter turn or so past hand tight to actually seat the ferrule right. Either way, it's always the simplest thing that hides in plain sight, makes me feel like a real dummy every time.

inSpent $80 on a single custom keycap and it arrived with a crack in it
Heard a story from a guy on another forum who ordered a $200 custom resin keycap and it arrived cracked in half because the seller packed it in a padded envelope with no bubble wrap. Said the seller refused any refund because they had a "no returns on handmade items" policy in their listing terms. It really does feel like you're gambling when you buy these expensive artisan caps, especially from overseas sellers.

inThat week I tried to fix my grandmother's old camera
36 year electrician here and I've definitely done the same thing with tools. Spent a whole afternoon tearing apart a multimeter once before realizing I just had the dial on the wrong setting. Your AE-1 is a solid camera by the way, those old Canons are tanks. Next time check the battery compartment for corrosion too, that's another common headache with vintage gear. A little contact cleaner and a new battery can save you a whole lot of hassle.

inA chat with an old timer about tool offsets made me slow down
Has anyone tested if the tool setter itself drifts over time with temperature changes?
