Saw a weird rope splice at a job in Tulsa, still trying to figure it out
I was working a removal near the river last week and the climber had this homemade friction hitch that looked like a nest of knots, zero idea how he tied it but it held fine on a 70 foot poplar, anyone else run into odd rigging that just works?

Did the guy ever show you how he tied it, or was it one of those things he just does by feel? I bet there's a real knot hiding in there that got buried under extra wraps over the years.
