Was dead sure the 5G towers were causing my headaches until I tracked my symptoms for a month

Tbh that's basically exactly what happened to me but with headaches and my neighbor's old furnace. Thompson is spot on about wood stoves pumping out fine particles that can mess with your sinuses and give you that pressure feeling people blame on everything else. I spent weeks avoiding my wifi router and wearing one of those tin foil hats before I realized my symptoms stopped when my neighbor went on vacation for two weeks. It's wild how easy it is to jump to the scariest explanation when really it's just someone burning stuff nearby. The particulate matter from those stoves is no joke either, it can trigger migraines in people who don't even normally get them. People need to check their immediate environment before blaming technology.

Watching a big excavator dig a pond in my hometown made me rethink our cutterhead setup

Yeah because what every dredge really needs is a car wash option.

Visited the old city park in Toledo and the new 'safety' pruning on the oaks looks like a bad haircut.

Ugh, that's brutal. My last haircut looked about the same, so maybe they're just following the latest trend.

Finally got my forge's firebrick to stop cracking on the first heat

Sounds like your apartment was trying to start a one-man band with that water heater. My last place had a fridge that groaned like it was lifting weights every time the compressor kicked on. Guess appliances need a pep talk before they get to work, not just a sudden jolt of power. It's a miracle anything works right when we just expect it to go from zero to full blast instantly.

Tried a new way to hang a side of beef and it was a mess

Man, that sounds terrifying. I read a forum post a while back where a guy swore by using two separate gambrels, one for each side of the pelvis, linked with a short chain to a single hoist hook. He said it spreads the load and stops that dangerous tilt. For something that heavy, maybe the single hook just can't handle the stress point. What kind of hoist are you using?
