My nephew asked why I still burn CDs for my truck and his answer made me think
My nephew is 19 and he saw my binder of burned CDs on the passenger seat of my 2004 Ranger last weekend in Dayton. He asked why I don't just use my phone, and when I explained my stock head unit has no aux or Bluetooth, he stared at me like I was speaking Latin. Then he asked the real question, how long until the CD player itself dies and nobody can fix it. That one sat with me for a few days, because he's right that the hardware is the clock, not the software. Curious if anyone here has ripped their whole collection to a drive preemptively, or do you just ride the player until it quits?
Did the same thing with my 97 Tacoma last year. Ripped about 600 discs to a cheap SSD over a couple weekends, took maybe 10 hours total. Now I keep the binder in the truck but never touch it, just plug my phone into one of those cassette adapters that still works fine.
