Hot take: I started buying frozen chicken thighs after a guy at the Kroger meat counter did the math out loud
He said fresh thighs were $4.99 a pound while the frozen bag worked out to $1.79, and I stood there feeling dumb for paying triple for years. Anyone else made the switch, and do you thaw them overnight or just cook from frozen?
Used to roll my eyes at frozen meat, thought it was all watery and sad compared to the fresh stuff. Then I actually looked at my receipt one week and realized I dropped almost thirty bucks on four packs of fresh thighs, which is just insane when you say it out loud. The frozen bag at Aldi is like six bucks for way more chicken, and once it goes in a curry or a sheet pan with some spices you truly cannot tell the difference. I just cook mine straight from frozen in the oven, maybe add ten extra minutes, and they come out fine every time. Thawing overnight works too but half the time I forget to move it to the fridge anyway.
