You know I used to totally think paper maps were overkill. I remember laughing at my buddy for bringing one on a simple day hike. Then my phone died at a fork near Blackrock Summit and I ended up going a full mile out of the way before I realized my mistake. Now I always keep a folded paper copy of the specific trail section in my pack, just in case.

Gotta agree with you on this one. I was at a buddy's new build last month and the motion sensor in the hallway was literally three feet from a bathroom heating vent. It would go off every time someone took a shower. I mean it's basic stuff, you'd think they'd teach this in training or something. Probably just rushing through jobs to get to the next one.
