I was at the craft fair in Springfield last Saturday and stopped by a small booth about paper crafts. The person running it showed me how they use a simple three column layout for their week, with one column for tasks, one for notes, and one for events. I tried it this week with my own notebook. It made my daily planning so much faster because I'm not mixing everything together. Has anyone else tried a setup like this for their weekly pages?

Question about a core box repair method from my old shop in Gary

Three years ago at the Indiana plant, we fixed a cracked core box by welding it with nickel rod, a trick our shift lead swore by. Last month, I saw a new guy try the same fix on a similar box and it failed after two pours, ruining a whole set of cores. Is nickel rod actually a bad long-term solution, or did he just do the prep wrong?

Update: I used to think a good sear needed a smoking hot pan, but a chef in Portland showed me a different way.
