inSaw a really smooth tower crane setup while driving through downtown Phoenix last week
You ever think maybe that story got a little better each time it was told? I've seen good operators, but a quarter inch blind sounds like a stretch.

inVent: I dropped $250 on a cheap signal meter and it gave me a false positive that cost me half a day.
Honestly I've had the opposite luck with used gear (got burned pretty bad last year). Sometimes the old meter just needs a proper calibration, saves a ton of cash.

inA writing group in Portland told me my characters all sounded the same
Honestly, sometimes I think that feedback is overrated. If the story is good, who cares if the voices sound a little similar? Not every character needs a whole new way of talking.

inRant: A bad coax connector on a King Air's transponder had me chasing ghosts for a full shift
Honestly markl75, I gotta disagree. Sometimes that multi-day hunt is the best part. It forces you to learn the whole system inside out. You end up checking every ground and tracing every wire, and you find three other problems you never knew about. Finding the bad connector fast just means you'll probably miss the deeper issues. That quick fix can come back to bite you later.

inRemember when the Edmonton chat was just a single IRC channel?
Miss that shared chaos where you'd bump into the same people every day.
