The sign at the post office said 'Package Pikcup' for 6 months and nobody fixed it until I complained

I drove to the Cedar Rapids post office three separate times last month looking for the package pickup window. Walked past it twice because the sign said 'Pikcup' and my brain just skipped over it like it was a glitch. Finally asked a clerk and she pointed right at it. Told her about the typo and she said they'd noticed it too but no one wanted to deal with the paperwork. Submitted a complaint through the website on a Tuesday, got a generic response Thursday. Showed up the following Monday and the sign was still wrong. It took a full week and a phone call to the regional office before they replaced it. Am I the only one who thinks the universe just lets bad signs live forever until someone makes a scene?

The coffee shop menu spelled 'espresso' wrong for 3 years and I never caught it

There's this place on 5th Street I hit every weekday morning. Their board said 'expresso' with an X, which I just thought was some fancy French thing. Last Tuesday a barista handed me a cup with a handwritten note asking if I ever noticed the typo. I'd been ordering there for 3 years and never once flagged it. Now I can't read any menu without triple-checking every word. Has anyone else had a moment where you finally see a sign you passed a hundred times?

The bakery sign spelling changed after 4 months, and it's glorious

Tbh I've been watching this little bakery on 5th Street since they opened back in March. Their chalkboard sign outside always had something off about it, like 'freash bagels' and 'coffe and muffins' spelled wrong every single day. It was my favorite part of walking to the bus stop, ngl, I looked forward to the new mistakes each morning. But last Tuesday I walked past and the sign said 'FRESH BAGELS' and 'COFFEE & MUFFINS' with perfect spelling and even a little smiley face. I actually stopped and stared for like a full minute, wondering if someone new had taken over or if they finally hired a proofreader. I asked the cashier inside and she said the owner's 14 year old daughter started helping with the signs after summer break started. Now the signs are way less funny but also way more legit, I almost miss the chaos. Has anyone else had a beloved typo spot get fixed and feel weirdly disappointed?

The salad bar sign that promised 12 items but delivered 8

Stopped by a grocery store in Des Moines last Tuesday for a quick lunch, and the handwritten sign above the salad bar said '12 items, $8.99.' I counted the actual bins, got 8, which is already a fail, but the kicker was the last one labeled 'croutons' holding mostly broken crackers. I asked the kid at the counter about it, and he just shrugged and said, 'The sign's been like that since March, boss.' I took a photo for the wall of shame and grabbed a bagged salad instead, which somehow felt like the more honest option. Has anyone else had a menu or price sign that straight up lied about the amount of stuff you were getting?

That red paint sign at the hardware store made me rethink my grammar rage

I was at a Menards in Des Moines last Tuesday and saw a sign that said "8FT. FENCING PANNELS" with two N's. Normally I would've snapped a photo and laughed with you guys. But an old guy next to me saw me staring and said, "You know, I've built three fences with those things, and I never once needed the sign to spell right." That hit different because he was right. We obsess over typos here like they're crimes, but the real crime is when a sign is so confusing you can't figure out what it means or where to go. A misspelled word on a price tag doesn't hurt anyone. A sign with arrows pointing two ways and no product names, that's the stuff that wastes my time. So I'm starting to think our community should separate actual confusing signs from just bad spelling. Has anyone else had a moment where you realized you were more mad about the spelling than the actual usability?

Paid $40 for a 'custom' sign that had three typos on it

Ordered a sign for my trucking side gig off some guy on Facebook Marketplace in Amarillo. Paid $40 upfront, he sends me a photo saying it's ready, and when I show up the thing says 'Recievcing' instead of 'Receiving' and 'Dock' spelled as 'Dok'. Told him it was jacked up and he said 'you get what you pay for' and refunded nothing. Has anyone else dealt with a seller who just refuses to fix their own garbage work?

Unpopular opinion: that "your" vs "you're" sign was probably intentional

Everyone in here loves roasting bad grammar, but I had a buddy who worked at a small diner in Austin. He told me their sign said "Your going to love our pancakes" on purpose for years. People took photos, posted them online, and the place got free publicity every single week. I used to argue with him about it, but after watching the line out the door for 3 straight summers, I think he was right. Maybe half of these "fails" are just clever marketing tricks. Has anyone else ever spotted a typo that seemed too convenient to be real?

Paid $35 for a decorative sign and it had three spelling errors

Picked up a cute wooden sign at a flea market in Austin last weekend. It was supposed to say "Gather Here With Grateful Hearts" but instead it said "Gather Hear With Gratefull Hearts." I almost didn't catch it until my buddy pointed it out. The seller tried to say it was a "rustic style choice." For $35 I expect at least one correct spelling. Has anyone else found expensive typos on stuff you actually paid good money for?
