Had to choose between a greenhouse kit and building my own from scrap wood last spring

I went with the scrap wood route and saved about $400, but spent 3 weekends straight trying to get the frame level on my sloped backyard in Portland. Has anyone else tried the DIY route for a small grow space and regretted not just buying a prefab?

I've been taking pictures of the clouds from my back porch for about three years now. Last spring, they finished building that big wind farm about 15 miles west of here. Ever since, I've noticed the clouds look... flatter. I used to get these amazing, puffy cumulus formations rolling in from the west almost every afternoon. Now, a lot of days, they just seem to spread out into a thin, hazy layer before they even get here. I know people say wind turbines don't affect the weather, but I have a whole folder of 'before' photos and my 'after' shots from this summer tell a different story. I think all those spinning blades are messing with the air flow enough to change how the clouds form. Has anyone else near a big wind project seen a change in their local cloud patterns?

We were lifting a 12-ton HVAC unit last Tuesday, using a brand new 5-inch synthetic. The tag said 20-ton capacity. It snapped clean at about 8 tons, dropped the load maybe 3 feet. The rigger swears the angle was fine and there were no cuts. I think the cold morning, it was maybe 28 degrees, did something to it. Has anyone else seen synthetics get brittle like that in the cold?

She told me it helps her plan her walks and saves gas. Has anyone else tried adding simple maps to their planning pages?
