DAE realize they were watching seasonal shows totally wrong for years?

I just had a moment last week where it finally clicked. I used to watch every single new anime every season, like I was trying to keep up with a checklist. I got through like 15 shows last spring and barely remembered half of them because I was just rushing through. Then I saw this comment in a thread where someone said they only pick 3 shows a season and really savor them. That hit me hard. I realized I was treating anime like homework instead of something fun. I was so focused on not missing out that I ruined the experience for myself. Has anyone else had that weird shift where they stopped caring about being a completionist?

Chose a used Haas over a new Tormach for my garage shop

Honestly, I was dead set on getting a new Tormach 1100 for months. Saved up about $8,000 for it. But then a buddy told me about a used 2014 Haas Mini Mill he saw on Craigslist for $12,000. I stretched my budget a bit and went for the Haas. The tool changer alone has saved me so much time on a batch of 50 aluminum brackets I ran last week. Has anyone else gone for an older commercial machine over a new hobby one?

Bought a $300 power trowel blade and it warped after one use

I picked up a six-blade set from a supplier in Houston last month thinking I was getting a deal, but after my first pour the edges curled up like a potato chip. Called the guy and he said it was "normal settling" which is total bs. Anyone else run into blades that just don't hold up on a fresh slab?

That bakery in Portland used a blowtorch on their croissants

Watched a baker at Tabor Bread hit a tray of day-old croissants with a propane torch for 10 seconds each and they came out flaky and hot like fresh from the oven, has anyone else seen this trick work?

I switched to filtered water for my next batch of dill pickles and the difference in crunch and clarity was night and day, has anyone else had their water chemistry mess with fermentation results?

That Wednesday when my shop got 14 special orders in one shift

I work at a print shop and last Wednesday was insane. 14 custom orders came in between 9am and 5pm, everything from banners to business cards. I got through 11 of them before closing, but one client wanted a 3 color screenprint job for a rush order due the next morning. Has anyone else had a day that just completely took over like that?

Warning: Talk with an old timer about suction hose maintenance

Ran into a retired guy at the fuel dock in Port Arthur last week. He noticed I wasn't flushing my suction hose after every shift and told me he had a hose burst on him back in '89 that put a job 3 days behind. Said it was just sand buildup eating through from the inside. I always thought it was fine to do it weekly. Now I'm flushing after every pull. Has anyone else had a hose fail on them from not cleaning it enough?

My bullet journal bled through the page after I tried a new pen

I bought a pack of those cheap gel pens from the dollar store last week, the ones that write super smooth. I used one to color in a small tracker box on my Leuchtturm1917 journal. The next morning, the ink had soaked through to the next three pages, making a big dark spot. I learned that not all pens are safe for thin paper, even if they feel nice. Has anyone found a good gel pen that doesn't bleed on 80gsm paper?

Hot take: Writing a prompt about a 'mysterious door' is way better than one about a 'magic portal'

The door makes you think about what's hidden in a normal place, but a portal just feels like a lazy fantasy shortcut. Am I the only one who gets more ideas from simple, grounded weirdness?
