Switched my cat's feeding schedule after a vet visit in Seattle
I always free-fed my cat dry kibble, thought it was fine. Then our vet in Seattle said the constant grazing was why she was gaining weight and getting picky. Now she gets 1/4 cup at 7am and 7pm sharp, and she's way more relaxed around mealtime, no more nagging me at 3am. Anyone else notice their cat calms down with set feeding times?
My friend Sarah did the same thing with her orange tabby last year. Her cat was acting like a total food gremlin, waking her up at 4am every single day to scream for kibble. She finally got tired of it and switched to strict morning and evening feedings, just like you did. Within two weeks her cat stopped the crazy begging and started sleeping through the night, which was a total shock to her. The vet told her that cats feel safer when they know exactly when food is coming, so the anxiety about when the bowl might run out just melts away. She even said her cat seemed more affectionate after meals, like the whole house was calmer. It makes total sense to me now that I watch my own cat too, consistent meal times just take the stress out of the whole food thing.
