Honestly, "cheap shop light 2 inches above them" is the exact hack I needed too. I had the same issue with my jalapenos getting all leggy and weak every spring. Once I moved my light closer, like right up in their faces, they finally stopped stretching and got nice and sturdy. It's wild how much of a difference that little distance makes, right?

Oh man, I feel this. My one attempt at a 'calming' steam just made my whole apartment smell like a soup gone wrong, so maybe don't take my advice. But for real, maybe try using way less of the strong smelling herbs, or mix them with something really mild like plain chamomile. It's probably a trial and error thing, where you learn which ones are total bullies in the mix. I'm still learning that with my cooking, to be fair.
