Found out my local library's digital checkout is 5x more popular than physical books

Margaret they actually shot up during the pandemic. I remember seeing my library's stats for 2020 and 2021 and the digital checkouts nearly doubled while physical stayed flat. Not surprising since nobody wanted to touch shared stuff back then. But the weird thing is the digital numbers never dropped back down after things reopened, they just kept climbing. Kinda makes you wonder if physical books are gonna go the way of DVD rentals at this rate.

Spent $45 on a variant cover at my local shop and the inside art is reused linework

Just paid full price for a coloring book with Batman on the cover, what a steal. $45 for the privilege of spotting reused elbow lines.

My buddy said pre-ground is fine for a French press, turns out he was dead wrong

Wait, people actually add coffee grounds to their coffee?

Talked to an old diesel guy at the parts counter and it changed my mind about oil additives

I've been noticing this same thing with cooking recipes lately @john648. You pull up a simple dish online and it's like 25 ingredients plus 3 different types of salt and a special pan you'll never use again. Meanwhile my grandma made perfect roast chicken with just salt, pepper, and butter. More stuff just clutters up the process and makes you feel like you're doing it wrong if you keep it simple.

Tried a bakery down the street that uses all organic flour, went back to my regular spot after their croissant tasted like cardboard.

Right?! Organic hype tax is real.
