Choosing between a bold color palette or a minimalist one for a cafe menu redesign

Seriously? Teal and yellow for coffee, @rivershah? That combo screams cheap diner or a kid's juice box. It feels fake and sugary. Coffee is dark, rich, earthy. You want warm browns, deep greens, maybe a cream color. Those colors feel real and cozy. Teal and yellow just look like you're trying too hard to be trendy.

Shoutout to the old timer who showed me the zip tie trick for stubborn O-rings

That's the kind of tip you pay for.

PSA: I think I broke a traffic light in my town for a solid minute

That headlight trick is an old urban legend, but it's wild it actually worked for you. Springfield's lights on Elm are notoriously glitchy, especially after heavy rain. I've sat through multiple cycles before, but never managed to command one like that.

I used to brown all my meat before the slow cooker, but I finally gave it up

You might not taste it in the stew, but browning creates flavor compounds through the Maillard reaction that slow cooking alone doesn't. The difference is in the depth, not the basic taste.

My neighbor told me her mom's 'depression cake' didn't use eggs or butter, which got me thinking about what else we've lost.

That bit about the depression cake really hits home. My buddy's grandma used to make this "poor man's gravy" with just flour, water, bacon grease, and black pepper. He tried to get the recipe from his mom once, and she just shrugged and said you make it when there's nothing else. The exact method seems to be gone.
