That part about the bulb of percussion being on the wrong end got me, because I did the exact same thing last spring with a point I found in a creek bed. I spent probably two weeks flipping that thing around, taking photos from every angle, comparing it to charts online, and I had it completely upside down the whole time. I finally posted it on a group and a guy basically said "turn it over" and I felt like such an idiot. Working alone is rough because you get stuck in your own head and stop seeing the obvious stuff. Now I take a break and come back the next day, or just snap a picture and look at it on my phone, which sounds dumb but it really helps.
