inChanged my mind about using a chisel plane
Man I was the exact same way. Picked up a Narex cheap one on a whim and it's been a game changer for cleaning up dovetails. Never thought I'd actually use one every day.

inAppreciation post: Took a chance on a contract gig over a stable job offer
Wait people keep missing the real issue here. Contracts ending without an offer isn't always about performance. Sometimes companies have budget freezes or hire freeze policies that kick in right when your contract ends. They actually want to keep you but can't get the headcount approved. I've seen it happen multiple times where the manager fights for the conversion but HR says no because of some corporate policy. The real trick is to build relationships during the contract so you hear about openings before they're posted. Then you can slide into a full time role through a different department even if your current one can't hire you.

inCaught myself reading air fryer wattage specs after a weird find on a Ninja manual
Nah I used to be one of those people who just hit preheat out of habit every single time, even for frozen stuff. But seeing that 30% number kind of slapped me in the face. Like, I did the math on my 1700 watt Ninja and realized I'm basically running a space heater for four minutes before I even put food in. Now I only preheat if I'm doing something like fresh breaded chicken where that first sear really matters. For frozen wings or fries, I just add an extra minute or two and they come out just as crispy. Makes me wonder how many other kitchen habits I have that are just wasting power for no reason.

inVent: I saw a huge change in how people ask questions here over the last year or so.
Oh, the dog park chats comment got me. My local neighborhood group went through the same thing. What actually helped for us was just setting up a simple shared document with all the basic info like vet recommendations and walking routes. That way when someone asks a simple question again, we can just point to the doc instead of typing out a whole essay every time. It cut down on the showing off a ton.

inHot take: I bought a $30 'solar-powered' lantern that needs 8 hours of sun for 20 minutes of dim light
Honestly I used to roll my eyes at the hand crank stuff, thought it was just gimmicky nonsense. But after my third solar powered light died on me in like two weeks I finally broke down and got one of those little crank lanterns. Yeah it takes a minute of winding but now I actually get light when I need it instead of staring at a dead panel and cursing at the clouds. You're totally right, I'd rather have a little arm workout than another useless brick of plastic.
