inMy old writing teacher said to cut every adverb, but I think that's too strict
Stephen King's book On Writing says the road to hell is paved with adverbs, but he uses them himself all the time. It's about picking the right moment, like you said with the spice. Sometimes "she said sadly" just lands faster than trying to show the tears welling up. The rule exists so new writers don't lean on them as a crutch, but once you know how to walk, you can run.

inI thought a kitchen scale was just extra stuff until my bread started coming out right every time
Seriously, the scale is a lifesaver. I had a whole phase where my cookies were either spreading into one giant sheet or staying in little dry lumps, and it was all because of that stupid cup measurement. What @tessa868 said about the scooping is so true, it's wild. I finally got a cheap scale and it felt like unlocking a secret level in baking. Now I even weigh my water sometimes, because why not be a little extra about it.

inMy Airbnb in Medellin had fiber internet but the router was locked in a cabinet, so I had to MacGyver a 50-foot ethernet cable run through the window just to get a stable signal for a client call.
Wait, that gave you a headache?

inPSA: I dropped $300 on a new floral cooler and it's been a total game changer
Upgraded my cooler last year and it was the same story. The steady temps just make everything last longer, right?
