Vent: That 30-year line cook told me my knife angle was all wrong

Wait, so what actually happened to the blade to cause that? @rodriguez.cora, was this from a cheap steel or did you just abuse it sharpening on something you shouldn't have? I've seen pictures where guys run a knife through a pull-through sharpener wrong and it leaves that exact scallop pattern. Or is this from like cutting against a ceramic surface or something? Just trying to figure out if this is a "buy a better knife" situation or a "you're doing it wrong" thing.

Stop booking flights on Tuesday just because someone told you it's cheapest

@grayw32 What kind of phone or computer are you using for incognito mode? I've heard some people say it doesn't matter if you're using an airline app since they track your device ID anyway. Might be worth comparing notes to see if the strategy really works across all devices.

PSA: Saw a guy at a trade show in Chicago use a router sled the wrong way and it saved me from a bad habit

Wait, isn't that kind of refreshing though? I swear most people just nod along and agree with whatever is popular, so it's cool to see someone actually say what they think. I've been down that road too where I thought something was one way and then realized maybe I had it backwards. It's funny how your gut can tell you one thing but then you start talking to people and they see the whole thing different. Honestly, that back and forth is what makes these conversations worth having.

Found a bag of frozen meatballs at the back of the slow cooker section at Aldi last week

Oh man, I gotta push back on this a little. In my experience, a sell-by date on frozen stuff is way more of a suggestion than a hard rule. Meatballs that have been frozen solid the whole time? They're probably fine for months after that date, especially if they were kept at a consistent temp. I've eaten frozen stuff a year past its date and couldn't tell the difference. Now if we were talking about fresh meat or dairy, I'd be right there with you checking every label. But frozen is a whole different ballgame, your mileage may vary of course.
