Finally got why you should never chase a storm cell for photos

And @aaron_flores84 is right about one thing, you don't need four years to figure out not to park under the rain core. But I think the real story here isn't about the lesson, it's about how easy it is to get tunnel vision when you're chasing and the adrenaline kicks in. That whiteout rain can creep up on you faster than a radar app can warn you, and a lot of people learn that the hard way.

I finally switched from wireless to hardwired sensors after 5 years of false alarms

Oh man, tell me about it. I did the exact same thing last year after my dog set off a motion detector because a fly landed on it. Three times. In one night. Hardwired stuff is just dead simple and it actually works, no guessing games when the weather changes or the neighbor gets a new WiFi router. I don't miss those 2am "is it a burglar or is it the garage door opener" moments one bit.

Overheard a Best Buy employee say something about battery care that stuck with me

Is it actually proven that keeping it at 100% does permanent damage though? I feel like modern laptops have gotten way better at managing that stuff, and worst case you just replace the battery after a couple years anyway. Maybe it's just me but swapping a battery is easier than stressing about plugging it in all the time.

I saw a guy in Chicago using old milk jugs as planters and it blew my mind

Actually, that 50/50 soil and compost mix might be a bit too rich for tomatoes. They can get leggy and not fruit as well with too much nitrogen. A better bet is mostly potting soil with just a handful or two of compost mixed in, or using a balanced tomato fertilizer once they start flowering.

So I tried making chainmail from soda can tabs for a knight costume

My cousin made a whole Roman lorica segmentata out of old license plates once, looked wild but weighed a ton.
