My uncle told me to always double-check the subfloor for squeaks before laying pad

My crew swears by the talcum powder trick for a quick find. Then you gotta screw it down from the top, not the bottom.

Had a customer tell me they were having the worst day of their life, and it wasn't about the coffee.

My cousin's dog died last year and she was a mess for weeks. That detail about the lady's dog just hits hard. Cole357 has a point about not needing to say much, sometimes a free coffee and a quiet minute is the only real help you can give.

Walked into a bike shop in Portland and saw a full wall of old Campagnolo tools

How can you even compare new tools to that? My dad's old socket set feels like it was MADE for my hands. Modern stuff is too slick, no character. Those worn in tools just FIT right, like they know what they're doing. You don't find that kind of soul in a plastic package. It's about the history in your hands.

My cat just stared at a cucumber for 15 minutes straight

Read somewhere that cucumbers freak cats out because they look like snakes. Makes sense since they are low to the ground and long. Your cat was probably doing a full threat assessment on that weird green intruder.

I always thought a 5mm hex was fine for brake caliper bolts

Ever feel like you're the last one to learn something basic? I torqued a stem bolt right through a carbon steerer once... that was a very quiet, expensive lesson. Now I just assume I don't know the right tightness for anything.
