You said the simplest syntax trips people up, but I totally disagree. The real problem is almost never the syntax itself. It's that people jump into writing code before they even know what the loop should do. They don't think it through on paper first. So they stare at the screen trying to fix the wrong thing. The syntax error is just a side effect of a bigger planning mistake. That's why the paper trick works, it forces you to solve the actual logic.

Actually, the crumbly biscuit problem often comes from using cold butter. If it's too hard, it won't blend into the flour enough to create those little pockets that steam and rise. Letting it soften just a bit before cutting it in can make a world of difference for getting that tender structure without having to overmix.
