Just hit 500 connections on LinkedIn and it actually led to a job lead

I've been slowly adding people from my old jobs and local groups for about a year now, not really expecting much. Last week, I posted about finishing a small online course in project management. Someone I connected with six months ago, who works at a company I like, saw it and sent me a message. They said their team is looking for someone with that exact skill and asked if I'd be open to a chat. It was just a simple post, but it turned into a real chance. Has a small move like updating your profile ever worked out for anyone else?

My sourdough starter from a friend versus my own from scratch

I tried two ways to get a sourdough starter going. A friend gave me a bit of his mature starter, which was about 6 months old. At the same time, I tried making my own from just flour and water. The one from my friend was ready to bake with in just 2 days. My own took over a week and a half to get strong, and my first loaf with it was flat and dense. The friend's starter made a loaf that rose high and had big holes. I think the key was that his starter had a strong, balanced mix of yeast and bacteria already. My new one took time to build that up. It was a clear win for using an established starter. Has anyone else had a big difference in results like this?

Overheard a guy at the coffee shop bragging about using the same password for everything

I was grabbing coffee before my shift and this guy at the next table was talking loud on his phone. He said, 'Yeah man, I just use the same password for my bank, email, and that game account. It's easy to remember.' I almost choked on my drink. It made me realize how common that thinking still is, even with all the news about data leaks. I see the results sometimes, people coming in stressed after an account gets cleaned out. Using a password manager or even writing them down in a notebook you keep at home is so much safer. It takes one breach on a small site you forgot about to lose everything. Has anyone had luck getting a family member to finally use different passwords?

I used to think 'One Piece' filler was a total waste of time, but I found a way to make it work

The problem was I wanted to catch up on the main story but kept getting bored and dropping the show during the filler arcs. I started using a site called 'Anime Filler List' to skip every single filler episode after the Alabasta arc. It cut out over 100 episodes and let me power through to the Water 7 saga without losing interest. Has anyone else used a strict filler-skip method to get through a long-running series?

Dropped $300 on a signal detector after a weird neighbor comment, and honestly, it's just collecting dust.

He kept going on about 'frequency harassment' and I got spooked, but all it finds is my own wifi. Anyone have a real use for this thing, or did I just buy a very expensive paperweight?

Bought a $40 fabric swatch book and it saved my whole collection

I was about to drop a lot of money on this specific green linen for a jacket, but the swatch showed it was way more yellow in person than online. The book has over 200 samples, so now I check everything against it before I order. Has anyone else found a good way to check colors without buying a ton of material first?

The manual says to replace the whole unit, but a careful solvent soak did the trick. I figured it out after talking to a retired repairman.
