My fix for sticky shutter curtains that everyone warns against
The manual says to replace the whole unit, but a careful solvent soak did the trick. I figured it out after talking to a retired repairman.

Actually, that solvent can dissolve the adhesive on adjacent parts too, right?

Masking tape first saves the nearby parts.

Forget the tape, what about the plastic itself? That stuff can get cloudy or even melt if you're not careful. I ruined a clear phone case once by getting a tiny drop on it. Are you working with ABS or something else? Different plastics react in totally different ways.
