inWorst week I've ever had setting posts in Texas clay
Three bits failing that fast points to a hidden tension in the steel, not just hard wood. Check if they were all from the same batch or store, maybe a bad heat treat at the factory. I snapped two from a new set last month and the manufacturer admitted to a grinding error in that production run. Could be a quiet recall nobody's talking about yet.

inI finally tried an iPad for digital art after 5 years of using a cheap tablet
HAHA okay but HOLD UP. I actually went the OTHER way and it was the BEST decision I ever made. I bought a cheap Huion tablet for like 60 bucks and dumped my iPad Air because the screen display was actually distracting me. The iPad screen has SO much glare and my hand kept smudging it constantly, plus the battery drain was REAL. My little budget tablet connects through USB and NEVER lags because it's not trying to run a whole operating system in the background. And that pressure sensitivity you're talking about? My cheap tablet has 8192 levels just like the iPad does, and my lines come out exactly the same when I actually know what I'm doing. Honestly I think people just get excited about the GLIDE feeling of drawing on glass but that doesn't make better art. Your old Wacom Bamboo is PROBABLY fine, you just needed to adjust your expectations instead of dropping a thousand bucks on a fancy screen.

inPSA: How a 10-year-old connector turned my whole day upside down
Oh dude, didn't you hear about the time I grabbed a batch of those cheap D-subs from some random eBay seller? Total disaster. They looked fine at first but within like 3 months they started flaking green gunk all over the pins. Had to rip out every single connector and redo it with proper mil-spec ones from a trusted supplier. The knockoffs just don't seal right, even if they're sitting in a perfectly dry hangar all day. I swear they use some crappy zinc alloy that just hates the air. Never again, always go genuine or at least a reputable brand.

inA customer in Denver asked me why I always check the coax fittings twice
You know, I used to think the same way as your old boss the_taylor. I remember this one time in Austin I skipped a second check on a connector and had to go back the next day because the signal was dropping out. That engineer's radar story really made me see that even if it's not life or death, cutting corners can ripple out faster than you'd think.

inRant: That old drafter told me to use a 0.5mm lead and I thought he was crazy
Wait, you actually LISTENED to the old guy at the shop? I thought all the cranky pencil experts were just making stuff up to sell us overpriced gear. I spent THREE YEARS with 0.7mm because I thought it made me look like a "serious professional" and not a nervous college kid. Then I tried 0.5mm on a whim and suddenly my circles didn't look like they were drawn by a drunk octopus. My bad, old man. But seriously, the smudging thing is REAL. I used to wonder why my drawings looked like I'd been eating a sandwich while I worked. Now I realize my fat 0.7mm lines were just soaking up graphite like a sponge. So what's next, are we gonna start sharpening pencils with sandpaper like that one guy on YouTube? I'm not there yet, but I'll admit I'm slowly getting there. Baby steps.
