I used to be that guy who figured the price tag meant better gear, I bought a $180 Fluke toner years ago thinking my $40 no-name was just a toy. Then I spent a whole afternoon chasing a line in a drop ceiling and that cheap probe beeped right on it while the Fluke kept locking onto the wrong pair. Tbh the tone on the basic one was clearer too, not all that digital warbling that sounds like a dying smoke alarm. Now it stays in my bag and the fancy one collects dust on a shelf. Ngl I was wrong for years about needing the expensive stuff, cheap tools have come a long way. The marketing gets you in the door but the job is what tells the truth.
