inNoticed guys keep running their pumps dry on startup
Three pumps dry and my last D-I-Y project ended with me drilling into a water line, so I feel your pain.

inI still think old shutter gears beat new plastic parts for longevity... but am I wrong?
Idk 'idk why everyone's so quick to ditch the old stuff' kinda sums up modern life throwing away things that still work fine lol.

inThat week my soup kitchen shoot took a swim in the dark room
Had a buddy who found out the hard way with his old aquarium. He filled it up, walked away for five minutes, came back to a slow drip spreading across his floor. The crack was a hairline thing near the bottom trim, easy to miss if you weren't checking with a flashlight. He spent the next hour mopping up water and cursing.

inLast week I nearly threw out my favorite putty knife before a painter buddy stopped me
You know I used to be one of those people who just tossed tools the second they got dull? I always figured sharpening was too much hassle or I'd mess it up somehow. But a few months ago I tried it on an old chisel I was about to throw away, and it's like a whole different tool now. It actually cuts wood instead of just scraping at it, which saves me a ton of time and frustration. I'm kinda mad at myself for all the tools I probably threw out over the years that could have been saved. It's weird how a really simple thing like a file or a stone can make such a huge difference, right?

inGot into a real argument about the Chicxulub crater at a field camp in Arizona
The Deccan Traps released enough sulfur to cause repeated acid rains though - did Mike ever factor in how that stacked against the single impact winter pulse?
